The West Gate Tunnel project offers a vital alternative to Melbourne’s West Gate Bridge. It provides faster and safer journeys and removes thousands of trucks from residential streets. The main features of the project include:
1. Upgrading of the West Gate motorway with 4 additional lanes, widening the route from 8 to 12 lanes.
2. A new state-of-the-art tunnel will take motorists from the West Gate motorway to the Maribyrnong River and Melbourne Harbour.
3. A new bridge over the Maribyrnong River.
Steel Builder is proud to be one of the companies participating in the West Gate Tunnel project. We are constructing barrier rails along the motorway as part of this key the Victorian Government initiative, which aims to improve transportation capacity and relieve pressure on the West Gate Bridge in Melbourne.
